Vetting We read every manuscript received from cover to cover - all of them. We do this for three reasons: a) we always want to know what each book is about, b) we want to be sure that we are happy with all it contains, and c) we also want to be sure that it is ready for publication. Such a job, carefully undertaken, takes some time and, as we do not make any charges at this stage, we ask you not to submit your work unless you are very seriously considering having it published by us! However, if you are not yet in a position to publish your work, but would like us to comment on it, we are happy to read it and offer our opinions for a fee (from £20). Please bear in mind, though, that our opinions are only ours, and you will get different judgements from other people! It is wise, in the early stages of writing, or if you are unsure whether or not to publish at all, to get as many opinions as you can. Please note that we also offer editing and proof-reading services if you need help preparing your text for publication.
Submission On Paper: paper manuscripts need only to be on plain white paper, clearly printed or typed and with lines double spaced; this format is easy for us to read! If you are not submitting a disk as well please do not write on your final manuscript; if it is to be published we will need to scan the text and it needs to remain as neat as possible. Please enclose an SAE if you would like your manuscript returned. On Disk: electronic manuscripts can be accepted in many formats, but Microsoft Word 95/98 files usually present the fewest problems. Disks can be either floppies or ZIP100s and either Mac or PC formatted. It will cut costs if you are able to send us a paper copy at the same time. Please enlcose suitable SAE if you would like your disk returned.
By Email If we decide not to publish your book your manuscript will be returned and no charge made. If you give us the go-ahead, but subsequently change your mind, a charge will be levied for any work undertaken in the meantime; we try to be fair to ourselves as well as to our clients!
